Need help with making a TCG!

Probably a really simple answer to this, and it's probably just me being an incompetent fool Tongue Out but I'd like to know how to actually create the layout of the cards I'm trying to make and fit it into the actual card.

For example, I want the card to have a description, maybe a card title, and I'm not quite sure how to do that.

Now, don't get me wrong. I know the layout and how the game works obviously, but I'd like to know how to add my description and image onto the card with a border, and is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks a lot!

It's something you need to design yourself; maybe even make your own template.

I do mine in GIMP (the free version of Photoshop) by creating a template with a text box and a transparent window, and then modifying the image and text for each individual card before exporting them. It's laborious, but it gives you the most control over the end product.

My templating process involves designing the graphics, then laying text boxes over it, like in the attached picture. Then I make the text boxes invisible, 'create new from visible', move the 'new from visible' layer below the text boxes, re-enable the text boxes, and then fill them in from a separate text file I've prepared earlier. This sounds more time intensive than it really is - once you get going, you can get a card done in about three minutes, and your sets look very uniform.

Some resources:

NobleValerian has some great free graphics. I use them when I'm in a hurry - creating a card is as easy as opening the poker card template, and then importing (as layers) a border, a title box, and a text box. The website also has some strong design tips. (

Apparently this freeware program ( can be used to streamline the template process, but I'm not sure how to use it beyond creating custom components for other games. Might be worth a look.

Hope this helps!
