Hello educators!

We know there are lots of teachers, professors, and educators in The Game Crafter community and we thought it was important to give you a special place to communicate, collaborate, and connect with your peers!

Our goal is to help foster a strong community of educators and we're going to be reaching out to various publications and organizations to attract a diverse group of people who are passionate about board games and education.

You are free to use this forum to discuss topics about games and education. Topics could include:

  • New educational board game releases
  • Student feedback about a game they played
  • Game design mechanics/obstacles
  • Tips/advice for teachers interested in making a game
  • Game recommendations
  • Anything you think teachers may be interested in.

The Game Crafter team is happy to support educators in any way we can. Please post any suggestions you have to this forum. In addition, if you have any contacts at educational publications/organizations or suggestions on how we can reach out to more educators, please let us know by posting a message in this forum.

Thank you for your hard work, effort, and passion. The future is bright and your efforts play a large part in that.

Hey Wooz,

That's really cool! I wish I could have taken game design classes in school. Is this college level or K-12? And is this your first time teaching courses on game design?

As you can see this forum is relatively new and unused. It would be great to hear more about what you intend to cover in the realm of game design. Feel free to create a new post and share your thoughts.

I'll be teaching middle school students through a gifted program. This is my first time doing it. I'm getting to create the class, in fact. I would have liked to have a class like this too when I was in school. I would have been happy if I just could have played my D&D after school without being hassled by some teacher worried about demons and devils.

I'm still working on the class, but in rough form, I'll be hitting some of the major mechanics. I have a couple of books as wel as articles that we'll read and discuss as well. Of course, we'll spend some time playing games as well.

I've contacted someone here already about how we might be able to work some collaboration out as one of the classe will be in Madison.

Hi Impcat,

I'm glad to hear you are interested in being a game designer. This is a great website to meet game designers and I would recommend that you join our "general chat" on this website. You can click on the "general chat" button in the bottom right corner of this website. Then you can ask people in chat to see if anyone is available for an interview. There are many successful designers in our community and I think you'll find one (or a couple) designers to interview!

Thanks and welcome to our community! :)
