Reduce Game Costs...

Not sure if this is the right location for this post, but here goes.

So I released my game and although I always wanted to come in at the sub $30.00 range ... I ended up hitting the $49.99 range.

My question is, how can I go about reducing some costs and hopefully trigger some sales?

I can go to a smaller box which will take me to the $39.99 range with Linen Textures enabled ... but is there anything else I can do.

Technically I can release my game as a two player version and this will reduce the number of cards by half ... but this doesn't seem to have a very large effect on the ultimate pricing.

Do any of you have suggestions?

Am I missing some valuable piece of information here?

Should I just be patient and see how sales go?

Any advice or help will be grateful.

Thanks. 8-}

I had the same problem with my game, even hopefully shooting for the same price point.

Best advice I can give you is cut, cut , cut.

If you are using cards, such as a poker deck, try to make your final card count in a multiple of 18.  That way they are not charging you for another full sheet that you are only getting 1 card from.

The same applies for chits and any other cut pieces.  Especially chits..I was only using 30 or so in my game, but for a cost of almost 10 dollars.  I scrapped all the chits and replaced them with pre-made game pieces, which definetly helped.  If you have to use chits, consider using shards.  Instead of boards, use mats.

ANd lastly, consider lowering the profit margin you make on the game, a profit is always great, but i feel, just starting out, I would rather have a cheaper game that hopefully makes it more attractive to people.

Good Luck

Shipping costs can be a big thing that eats into profit, if you aren't worried about that then like the other peopel have said, replace miniatures for tokens, make sure you aren't being charged for a sheet that only has 1 card etc.

That going to be tricky to find the right pieces, if they are interesting the setup and probably dont mind spending that much money on it. I believe it all based on what they want to get into. Just have to publish it and ad it, so they can see it.

Most games i see is just simple, but there are some gamers out there want more details and realism too.
