I've been quietly developing my game, Ophidian Wars, with TGC and I am really impressed.
Honestly, I am not sure why people consider this a "prototyping" service and I am making it my goal to prove that it's very viable for producing high quality games - at good prices, and without worrying as much about manufacturing and distribution.
Yes there are some limitations as a result, but for the unknown/unconnected developer, it's a dream come true.
As they continue to make improvements to the UI and the final product, I believe more heads will start turning.
Anyhow, I have 95% awesome things to say, but in the spirit of constructive critisism, a couple things:
1. I've heard a lot of "meh" feedback about the card boxes. You may already be working on it, but raising that bar would quell a high percentage of concern. I tend to agree that they are still a noticible cut below standard.
2. Sometimes my orders can take awhile to process. Obviously it's still quite rapid in the larger picture, but my most recent order was important and it took 9-10 days to go from order to "production" which probably means 14+ days total turnaround. It would be nice to have some additional communication on order status to alleviate the stress/confusion when those delays happen - as developers we're often waiting for those orders to take the next step of development, testing, etc. Maybe add more "levels" of progress so we can see it moving along.
I've really enjoyed the experience - looking forward to publishing soon.
Hey Ophidian Wars,
Thanks for sharing your testimonial. We do think it's possible for designers to produce high quality games at good prices and we're excited to see more people in the community do this.
We appreciate your 2 points on areas of improvement. We can always do better and it helps to hear this kind of feedback from our customers and community members.
Be sure to visit the ideas board to submit other suggestions/ideas as well as vote on other people's ideas. The tuck box improvement (ie card box you mentioned) is one of the ideas and several people in the community have voted on it already. Our team likes to deliver items that are higher in the list. :)
