Just received my test set of Cosmic Spirals Energy Mats and am really happy with the print quality and colours. My only 'criticism' is the weight of the board, it seems a litte flimsy. I think I will laminate my set to make them sturdier.
Is this the new 'heavier' card stock, as now used on the decks, if it is then the difference is barely discernible...
I just wish you had a UK counterpart, as shipping costs for my customers in the UK is so expensive... any plans there?
Thanks for taking the time to share a testimonial about your experience. We're glad to hear you are pleased with the print quality and colors.
Game mats are made with the exact same 12pt 305gsm black core card stock that are used in our cards. This is a very high quality and sturdy stock when used in paper but when working with larger sheets it does seem more flimsy. But that's just because there is more material causing it to bend more and this was the case with our old paper too. It actually will happen with any type of paper. You can test this with just normal office copy paper and the results will be the same.
If you want something sturdier, then you'll have to move into a chipboard material and those are what our various boards, tiles, and chits are made of. It is a much sturdier material, although it does cost more. The mats are meant to be a lower cost option for gamers that are okay with a less sturdy play mat.
We don't have a EU counterpart at this time but it's something we'd like to do in the future. At this time we're using the cheapest shipping method we have found (USPS). Many of our European customers have searched for cheaper options but none of them have been successful in locating one. So I'm afraid there's nothing else we can do for the time being.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your testimonial. We greatly appreciate having open & honest members in our community.
Thanks for the reply Tavis!
Yes most likely I do need the Boards instead but the sheer weight of shipping a set of those would push the production costs too high for my customers unfortunately.
The USPS service, although excellent, to the UK is costly. Purchasing in bulk is obviously an advantage but then you have to figure in Customs charges (VAT, handling etc.) which then pushes the price per item up so it's a double edged sword LOL! Hence my question whether you might have a UK counterpart... quite literally to just 'pick you up and move you here' would be perfect ;)
